The Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP) supports the idea of a basic income.

A member of MSZP, Robert Braun, says, he understand why his colleague in Fidesz, Peter Hoppál considers dangerous the idea of ​​basic income submitted by the LÉT workteam, because his party support, in his view, wealthy people thereby increase of social inequality and poverty.
On the contrary, he thinks, that the project prepared by the LÉT workteam and supported by majority of the left can be the basis for a policy of growth of welfare of children, reduction of unemployment and poverty, the most effective since the regime change.
