The European Investment Bank ( EIB) is providing a loan of 250 million euro to finance the rehabilitation and modernization of the Hungarian railway infrastructure between 2013 and 2016 - announce its press release launched on 8 January 2014.

The EIB has recently granted a loan of a similar amount, representing in this case the half of the amount necessary, to rail projects in the Pays de la Loire, in France ( 19 September 2013 ) and a loan of € 47 million to PKP Cargo SA for the modernization of the rail fleet in Poland ( 4 December 2013 ).
The financing provided by the Bank of the Hungarian EU transport sector since the beginning of its operations in 1990 , reaching € 4.2 billion, represent 25% of its commitment in Hungary.

This 250 million euros will permit the rehabilitation of railways, modernization of signaling equipment, improvement of telecommunications but also the renovation of railway stations and passenger buildings, including increasing their accessibility for people with reduced mobility. This ‘will help the Hungarian railways to become more competitive and attractive in comparison will less environmentally friendly modes of transport such as by road’ - notes the reported release of January 8.

On the other hand, we can even say , on the eastern side , the Society of Hungarian railways had the opportunity to welcome the 250 delegates from 24 countries participating in the of the Transsiberian Transports Coordination Council, the 14 -15 November 2013 at Budapest .

The exchange of ideas about the possibilities of standardization of railway transport processes and improvement of the efficiency of railway transport by the use of the Trans-Siberian main track represent a basis for future developments .
